Real estate in Houston is booming right now. With rising oil prices leading massive growth in the economy, there is a lot of growth in the city. New roads are being built, old roads are being expanded, and your options for buy some prime Houston Texas real estate are growing by the day.
One thing that people who haven’t been to Houston before might not understand is how spread out the city really is. When you’re looking at real estate in “Houston,” you might not realize that Houston encompasses a wide range of different cities and suburbs. Let’s stop over some of them, just to give you an idea.
First of all, there is proper downtown Houston. Real estate here is typical urban style housing, surrounding by shops, businesses, and night life. Houston’s downtown scene certainly isn’t the hippest out there, but you can have a good time, for sure. Be warned, though, that even the downtown area requires a car, as the public transport system is very poor, and the city is *not* biker friendly.
Uptown, or the “Galleria area,” is home to Houston’s hottest shopping district. This area also houses some office buildings, making it feel very affluent and urban even if its well outside the city. There are lots of different styles of housing and commercial real estate here, suited for a wide variety of purposes.
Going further west, we reach the energy corridor and head towards Katy, a much quieter suburb well away from the city. The energy corridor, as its name suggests, is home to many oil and oil service companies. This area generally resembles a stereotypical sprawling suburb, but you can get some great real estate values here, as well.
This just helps give you an idea of some of the different areas you can purchase Houston real estate in. In future articles, we’ll cover this in more detail.
